We are a group of developers, engineers, and professionals in the tech industry with a desire to empower software developers in the region. We provide programming that gives students and early-career professionals opportunities to connect with and learn from mentors and professionals in the Syracuse tech community.
We sponsor, host, and promote events and activities that provide education to individuals and help them connect to others in the industry. We also fund and facilitate grant projects that support individuals entering or already in digital careers. In turn, many of these projects then support local businesses and nonprofits.
Coalition of Digital Engagement in Syracuse (CODES) was established in 2020 with a goal of serving and growing the technology community in Central New York. A group of developers, engineers, and professionals who were active in the local tech community saw a need for more education, a local mentorship program, and other programming to create economic opportunities.
We looked around and saw talented, driven developers, people who show up to meetups, hungry to learn and improve, creating opportunities for themselves through new careers, and working their way up the ladder. We noticed untapped potential of both existing professional developers and others looking to break into the industry. They just needed connections and opportunities to grow.
We also love Syracuse and Central New York. We saw opportunities for Syracuse to grow it’s tech scene. We saw potential for the people who live here to support that growth, and for that growth to in turn support the Syracuse community.
